Night update

She is the most communicative today than any other day - writing lots of notes. She wrote a note that said "I want to go home". She even said she wants to see the kids. We'll wait until she gets the trach put in then hide her neck under the blanket. She is watching TV for the first time. Scratching and moving her feet around.

Platelets were low today even though they gave her some yesterday. She had been doing a good job of maintaining them. They are giving her more today.

They put on a diuretic yesterday and she lost 5950 ml of fluid (they put 2690ml in). The doctor decided to give her half the amount of diuretic today.

Trach surgery is scheduled for Thursday and she should get her PICC line tomorrow. If she has strong days like this she'll be strong enough to ween off the respirator. She hasn't been asking for the anti-anxiety med. Her HR has been low (50's) with a good BP.

Katelyn, myself, Ethel, and Debbie went in tonight all around the same time tonight. We got in to see Robin around 7:45pm or so. She was very active and awake tonight. The most that Katelyn and I had seen her since she has been in ICU. We showed her pictures and movies of Katelyn's dance performance from this past Saturday night. Robin was proud to see her baby dance.

We ended up watching 'American Idol' with her. Robin was just ready to tear the tubes out of her mouth, because she wanted to talk so badly and wanted to get a drink. We did give her some water, but the nurse had some suction hose turned on so that the water would not stay in her mouth, which got Robin riled a bit more. I think she is ready for the trach op. I hope it helps...

Robin's HR was still a meager 45+bpm when we first got there, but not long after held steady at around 60bmp till we left. ABP was 111/?? last night throughout the time we were there.

Keep praying for her! The prayers are working. She is getting stronger.

Nurse Brenda was working tonight. Same one from the previous three nights. She is good and is watching out for Robin.

let us pray for her to have a wonderful Mother's day.
Any idea about what we can do to make her day special?
